What’s in a Name?

I think we’ve decided on a name (for now).  We had a lot of good choices.  Some of the top choices were Miles Parker after Randall’s favorite jazz musicians, Atticus (Atty) after Emily’s favorite To Kill a Mockingbird hero, and Hotpot Littleton a good suggestion from Emily’s sister-in-law.  Here were some other suggested names:

Robert Lloyd
Colt McCoy
Isaac Deuce (even though he’d be a tres or however you spell "third" in whatever language that is)
Stephen Christopher

The best thing about being pregnant with Isaac was calling him by name for the last few months before we met him in person. I think we’ve decided to begin calling the new baby by Asher.  If we don’t think of a better name before he’s born, he’ll be known to the world as Asher Jay Littleton.  We feel like we already know who he’s going to be and it’s great to be able to tell Isaac that his baby brother Asher is on his way.  I know many of you may disagree with our choice or may have had your hearts set on Hotpot but that which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet… So Asher Jay by any other name will still become the wonderful, talented, sweet and smart boy that God is right now making him to be. I for one can’t wait to meet him!

  1. Em & Randall, congrats! I hope everything is going wonderful and I can’t wait to meet your next little bundle of joy, Asher:). Hopefully Mason can have a playdate with you guys soon. Give us a call when you can!

  2. For what its worth, my favorite jazz muscian was Maynard Ferguson…..Maynard Littleton…kind of rolls of the tongue. Dizzy Gillespie, hmmmmm…, Izzy and Dizzy.

  3. I love the name Asher Jay! Haley has conditioned me to like cool names. I am constantly on the look-out for cool names and I have never run across Asher. I really like knowing my nephew’s name before I get to meet him.
