Isaac pays attention to the little things. Just this morning he walked around playing with a live ladybug. He talked to it and "helped" it walk and flipped it over if it landed on its back. He got side tracked when he sneezed and had to blow his nose. He dropped the ladybug but then went back to find it and "tell it I’m feeling better." He lost it and then studied the floor looking for any little object to play with.
Isaac takes his time eating. We’d all be thinner if we ate like him. He takes about two hours to eat one sandwich. It drives me crazy.
He’s very encouraging. Sometimes I think God is using Isaac to speak to me. One day a few months ago, I was drying my hair and when I finished, Isaac looked at me and said, "Mommy, you’re beautiful!" I didn’t know he knew that word! I’m pretty positive he’s never heard anyone say that to me before. He’s also been known to tell me that I’m a good singer and whisper in my ear, "I love you, Mommy."
Isaac takes the time to stop and smell the flowers. When we were in Florida recently, we were looking for a place for dinner. We went to a big shopping area with lots of little restaurants and had to walk between two or three until we found one that could sit us within a reasonable time. As we were hurrying across streets and down blocks of stores, Isaac stopped to smell every single flower he saw (and there were quite a lot of flowers). I was holding his hand and rushing him along but had to smile and appreciate that my boy knew what was important. He took the time to notice the beautiful flowers that we hadn’t seen in months in STL. He wasn’t worried that it was an hour past dinner time and he still hadn’t eaten. He took the time to appreciate the little things that God gave us just to enjoy.
I am blessed.
