When Randall went out of town for camp last week, we expected some firsts to come for Asher. He’s getting pretty close to crawling (or at least getting around more efficiently). We didn’t expect a first for Isaac!
Last Thursday, Isaac got his first bee sting. Well, I think it was a bee. We were playing at our school playground and he started to cry. He said his arm hurt and I saw a smudge of dirt that made me think he may have burned it on the slide or something, but as he continued to cry I didn’t think that would have hurt him so badly. I finally found a red dot surrounded by a slowly growing white bump. I didn’t see the bee or the stinger but by the time Isaac was back in the stroller headed for home, he was fine. When we got home I cleaned it off and kept an eye on it to see if there would be any allergic reactions. Everything was fine, but as I’d check the sting through out the day, he’d just say "Mommy, don’t touch me." Such a little man…
Asher has been needing a hair cut since he was born. He was born with long brown hair that stuck straight up. I kept letting it grow hoping that the added weight would make the hair lay down. It looked so funny because the original hair he was born with was brown, but all the new hair that was sprouting up was blonde. So as Asher started losing his hair, he had a ring of brown hair around the back of his head and long blonde hair with brown tips on the top of his head. And it never really laid down. So yesterday, Randall and I tried to give him his first hair cut. He was squirmy and frankly it was a dangerous situation. I wasn’t going for any specific look, I was just trying to cut off all the brown so his hair would be all the same length. Don’t look too closely, it’s a really bad hair cut, but now I’ve got another blonde baby boy! SO cute!
Asher had his first taste of rice cereal on Saturday. I made a mostly liquid mixture for him and tried to feed it to him on a spoon. I don’t think we got any of it down his throat. We tried again yesterday. I think he may have swallowed a spoonful or two. We’ll keep working on it. Pictures and video to come!
